For many workers in the trades and other physically demanding sectors, the pressures of the job can take a significant toll on both physical and mental health. Long hours, injuries, chronic pain, shift work, and demanding work environments can increase the risk of substance use harms and addiction — making access to timely, specialized care critically important.

For decades, Renascent has worked closely with employers, unions, Disability Management, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providers, as well as insurers to help workers — including those in the trade sector — access addiction treatment and recovery support.

Last year alone, Renascent’s Community Relations and Partnerships team helped hundreds of individuals access care through dedicated treatment coordination and support services tailored to the needs of corporate and organizational partners.

The team provides high-touch care coordination, case management, progress reporting, and ongoing communication to help ensure clients, employers, and referral partners feel supported throughout the recovery journey.

Clients often require additional medical, workplace, or insurance-related support before treatment can begin successfully. In these situations, Renascent’s Community Relations and Partnerships team works closely with the individual, their employer, and benefits providers to help navigate barriers and coordinate care as seamlessly as possible.

“Workers in the trades often present with more complex medical and recovery needs related to injuries, pain management, medications, and irregular work schedules,” shares Isaiah Gayle, Manager of Business Development. “By taking a collaborative and person-centred approach, Renascent helps ensure clients receive the care and support they need at every stage of the process.”

As the workforce continues to evolve, Renascent is also adapting to better meet the needs of a growing and increasingly diverse client population. In recent years, more women have entered the trades, and Renascent has continued expanding access to gender-specific treatment and support services. Last year alone, the organization saw an eight per cent increase in the number of women accessing care compared to previous years.
