Every Renascent clinician understands how important it is for clients to feel safe, supported, and cared for from the very beginning of their recovery journey. Removing barriers to care is an important part of their work.

Last year, Renascent introduced enhanced withdrawal management support across its live-in treatment centres, helping more clients safely begin treatment without interruption or unnecessary delays in care.

Through this enhanced withdrawal management process, clients receive a comprehensive assessment using evidence-based tools, where clinically appropriate. These assessments help clinicians better understand each client’s withdrawal symptoms and immediate care needs. In consultation with each centre’s Medical Director, clinicians use this information to determine whether treatment can begin safely at Renascent or whether additional medical care is required first.

“We are committed to meeting clients where they are and understand that each person who walks through our doors may have different needs. Some clients are well enough to begin treatment right away, while others require additional support to safely manage withdrawal symptoms” said Abshir Stock Yusuf, Director of Programs.

This enhanced approach allows many clients experiencing mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms to remain within Renascent’s care, where they can be safely monitored and supported in a familiar, therapeutic environment rather than being transferred elsewhere for withdrawal management.

Renascent’s clinicians closely monitor each client’s progress during their initial days in care. Clients who require a higher level of medical withdrawal management at any point are safely connected to hospital partners or specialized withdrawal management centres before returning to treatment at Renascent when appropriate.
