Partnership and Collaboration in Remote Communities

Accessing addiction treatment can be especially challenging for individuals living in Northern and remote communities, where care is often far from home and support services can be limited. Beginning the recovery journey may involve not only emotional vulnerability, but also long-distance travel, unfamiliar surroundings, and significant logistical barriers.

Through its longstanding partnership, Renascent continues to help ensure Government of Northwest Territories (NWT) residents can access the treatment and support they need to begin recovery at Renascent’s treatment centres.

In August 2025, members of Renascent’s Community Relations and Partnerships team travelled to Yellowknife for a series of meetings and roundtable discussions focused on further strengthening client experience, care, and collaboration.

Renascent’s Community Relations and Partnerships team works closely with referring organizations to coordinate all aspects of care, including admissions, travel arrangements, clinical communication, and post-treatment support. Because many clients travelling from Northern and remote communities face unique logistical and care-related challenges, thoughtful coordination and strong partnerships are essential to helping treatment begin successfully.

“We had many fruitful discussions with members of the NWT team while we were in Yellowknife,” said Isaiah Gayle, Manager of Business Development. “There is a deep appreciation for the high caliber of care that Renascent provides to their residents. Our home-like environment and experienced clinical teams help clients feel welcomed, supported, and safe as they begin recovery.”

The visit also provided an opportunity for both organizations to identify ways to further strengthen services and remove barriers to care. Following the discussions, Renascent developed customized pre-treatment resources and introduced several adjustments aimed at better supporting clients before and during treatment.

By continuing to build strong partnerships rooted in collaboration, communication, and compassionate care, Renascent is helping more communities access meaningful support and take important steps toward long-term recovery.
